Diana grew up in Blacksburg and graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1995.  After high school, she received her bachelor's degree from Radford University .  Upon graduating from college, she acquired a part-time position as an Administrative Assistant with the Town of Blacksburg 's Parks and Recreation Department where she continues to work.  Diana began working part-time with Talent Search and Upward Bound in December 2004.

A friend introduced Diana to her current husband when she was in high school.  Since her marriage, she has given birth to two boys.  In addition to their children, they own a big black cat named Gabriel that looks like a panther.  As a compromise to the country lifestyle that her husband is acquainted to and Blacksburg, they bought a house in Giles County.   The Israels also own another house that they personally rent and maintain.
