Biography
Tom began working with Talent Search/Upward Bound in 1982, after he received his Master's Degree from Virginia Tech. He served with the Highland County public school system (1979-1981) where he taught music at three county schools, was the high school band director and coached basketball. He serves as the Choir Director at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Blacksburg. Tom is very active in TRIO issues at the state, regional and national levels, currently serving a president of the Virginia Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel.  During his spare time, Tom is an avid Hokie fan who enjoys watching and participating in a variety of sports (especially golf and softball), playing the drums, reading, listening to music, and playing with his dogs.
